SPOT GUIDE
TENERIFE SPOTS
Tenerife’s awesome reputation as the windsurf capitol of Europe has come about from an extremely consistent North-east trade wind named “Alissio” which allows all year round cross-onshore wave and free riding.
When checking forecasts for the area, a key tip is to add 5-10 knots on whatever Windguru is predicting when in a north easterly direction, as the wind accelerates around the huge volcano of Mount Tiede.
The most accurate forecast is the one from Muchoviento. The entire bay can be transformed into a freestyle and flatwater slalom paradise with the arrival of southerly winds. Southerly winds can also be a lot stronger than what is forecasted.
The wind and wave conditions combined with air temperatures which go almost never above 32 degrees and not below 20 degrees, even in winter time, makes El Medano the prefect windsurf holiday destination. High season is from mid-June till beginning of September and from end of November till late April. Windsurfing in shorty or summer wetsuit, even in winter times!
TWS is organizes each winter the famous TWS Pro Slalom Trainings for slalom athletes from all over the world. No other place in the world has the conditions during the winter months like we have for slalom, free riding and wave riding!
